This table has such amazing lines. It was given to me by some friends who were downsizing. I almost didn’t want to paint it because it was hand made years ago back as a high school wood working project. After I thought about it long and hard, I decided on some paint. I wanted a dramatic colour, but was undecided between red, blue, yellow or black. So I asked you! And by very popular vote, red was that winner.
My daughter has more shoes then my entire house hold put together. And she’s only 2! After our fire, we had so much amazing support from the community and Myra didn’t go with out a thing, especially shoes! I needed to come up with a solution, the floor just wasn’t cutting it any more. I had picked up a couple of lonely drawers from a bid site one day with Myra’s shoes on my mind. Here’s a quick tutorial on a great kids shoe storage!
So as some of you may know, our house burnt down a few months ago. When we were on the hunt for a place to rent during the rebuild, it was almost impossible to find something! Luckily we have amazing friends… One friend offered us his townhouse, on one condition, that we paint the walls and do some minor upgrades so he can sell when we move out! Well this is right up my alley. I would probably go nuts if we rented a place that wouldn’t allow me to paint!
As you may know, I am always on the hunt for a good deal. One day I came across a solid wood coffee table on a bid wars site! But it was way too orange for my taste. So I picked up this table for $7.00! I remember I had a bunch of other pick ups that day, my car was jammed packed! With my 1 year old in the car at the time too. The lady probably thought I was crazy. NOTE: my daughter was safe while I transported all goods 😉
One day my little family and I were just driving up to our house when two doors down, I spotted a piece of furniture! It had my favorite word on it too, free! My hubby could tell my excitement and right away say no. Our house was beginning to look like a furniture store with all the projects on the go. At that time I think I had about 15 project pieces and a few upgrades to current furniture pieces on the go. And we had a small house.
I finally convinced him that this piece would only take me a couple days and when I was through with it, it would sell in no time! We also made a deal that I wouldn’t nag him about his golf day he wanted to have the next day. Little does he know I didn’t care about him golfing and love it when he can get out and do things he loves! But I put up a bit of a fight anyways just to ensure I could get the piece 😉 We walked down and grabbed the sofa table.
Craft Room Fun
Our spare room was a disaster, the dump room of the house for so long! I was motivated a few months ago to turn it into my craft/ sewing room. I didn’t want it to be a boring room though, I wanted something fun and inspiring. This is what I came up with…
We have just finished an amazing kitchen renovation, and the other day as I was sitting there admiring the handy work, and my eyes kept getting caught on the plug ins and light switches! I wanted to do what I could to hide them as best as possible. This is what I ended up doing !
On occasion I have helped people find the perfect white wash look for their wood projects. Whether it’s for an interior wall, exterior stain, piece of furniture or just a craft, there are many different ways to white wash. Some are better than others. Below I have tried 4 different methods, whats your favorite?
